Illustrated by 24 pages of black and white photographic plates, by 58 text figures, including maps and by 16 tables. Decorated by publisher's device on title page. A well illustrated study of human evolution and ecology, by Sidney Joseph Weiner (1915-82), South African born human biologist and evolutionary anthropologist who helped expose the Piltdown hoax. He was professor of Environmental Physiology at the University of London. The English edition by Weidenfeld was titled Man's Natural History.
