FIRST UK EDITION. 8vo. 8.5 x 5.75 inches. 160 pp. Bound in original brown cloth, gilt, in unclipped dust wrapper, which has spine neatly repaired at head and tail. Some scattered foxing, but otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by two black and white plates, including frontispiece and by 22 line drawing text figures. A wide ranging early study of allergy, its history in medicine, causes, symptoms and treatment, which includes a table of hay fever pollens, amusingly illustrated by the line drawings of John P. Tillery. Warren Taylor Vaughan, M.D. (1893-1944) was a US physician, researcher and writer on allergy and hypersensitivity and Director of the Vaughan-Graham, Richmond, Virginia from 1920 (Oxford Academic website). First published in the US as Strange Malady, 1941, this first UK edition is very scarce.
